Southeastern Kentucky Rehabilitation Industries (SEKRI) announced a new facility that is expected to bring up to 100 jobs to Bell County. Officials said in a news release that the new manufacturing facility will be located in Middlesboro. Plans are underway for the facility to open by the end of February 2019. To fill the new job positions, SEKRI is hosting a job fair at the Middlesboro City Hall Council Chambers Tuesday, January 15th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. SEKRI primarily makes clothing and gear for the U.S. military. It is a non-profit organization that began in 1971 to employ people most would consider unemployable. This will be the organization’s seventh facility. Mayor Rick Nelson says he had heard rumors about the factory possibly coming in and was happy to get the confirmation.
