A Clay County woman appeared in circuit court this week to answer to her murder charge after her newborn baby was found dead inside a garbage bag in December. 21 year old Amber Bowling, of Manchester, is accused of killing her newborn shortly after giving birth to the boy. Kentucky State Police say Bowling threw the garbage bag she put the child in over a banister. A neighbor found the garbage bag two days after Bowling gave birth. An autopsy revealed the newborn suffered cranial bleeding and fractured ribs. Bowling was only in court for a couple of minutes. She was appointed a public defender who entered a not guilty plea on her behalf during her arraignment. Bowling’s next court appearance is March 4th for a pre-trial hearing.
