Police have arrested a man in connection with a rape that happened 25 years ago in Lexington. Investigators say two men attacked and raped a 13-year-old girl in her backyard, tied a rope around her neck and walked her several blocks away before letting her go. The results of the girl’s sexual assault kit led to an arrest warrant made out July 8th of this year. Police arrested James Fields in Whitley County. He was 22 at the time and now denies the incident. Fields is on the Kentucky sex offender registry and has a long criminal history. He is also accused of escaping from jail and using a machete to assault another woman.
