Laurel County Sheriff John Root says deputies noticed a car with no license plate pulling into a parking lot off Old Richmond Road. Officers went to investigate and found the driver, later identified as 32 year old Hallie M. Simpson of Pittsburg, was under the influence. Simpson refused to tell deputies her name and finally gave officers the name of another person in an attempt to conceal her identity. A search turned up hydrocodone pills, a spoon used to heat narcotics and a used needle. During her arrest Simpson became combative. After a brief struggle she was taken into custody. She was charged with drug possession, DUI, third offense, and other traffic offenses. She was also wanted on several warrants. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
