Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Detectives Charlie Loomis and Stacy Anderkin conducted an investigation into a reported rape that allegedly occurred in southern Laurel County and was reported on Saturday morning (2-11-2012). The woman reporting the sexual assault went to BRMC for treatment, and Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy William Bo Harris was notified and initiated an investigation. Detective Charlie Loomis continued the investigation, and as a result arrested a 25 year old male from Corbin lodging him in the Laurel County Detention Facility on a Rape Charge.

As the investigation continued by Detective Loomis, it was determined that the woman had reportedly went with the male subject to his home, and later reported that he had raped her. Based on witnesses statements and a followup interview with the alleged female victim, and the victim’s own admissions it was determined that a sex act had occurred, but that it was consensual. Subsequent to her admissions, the woman who reported the rape was arrested on Wednesday, (2-15-2012) at 11:04A.M.and charged with Falsely Reporting an incident. She is identified as: Laura L Sparks age 20 of South Highway 1223 Corbin. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

Rape Charges are expected to be dismissed against the male subject that had been arrested.
