Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Turner assisted by Sgt Greg Poynter, Deputy Shawn Boroviak, and Deputy Steve Hoskins responded to a complaint that some subjects were making methamphetamine at an abandoned trailer on Harris Cemetery Road, 2 miles north of London on Tuesday evening (1-24-2012) at approx. 8:41 P.M. When deputies arrived, they smelt the strong odor associated with manufacturing methamphetamine. Upon knocking on the door of the trailer, they heard a child scream, and made entry to the trailer. Deputies located a female subject and her 4 year old child in the living room area of the trailer, and an active meth lab within 15 feet of the 4 year old child. Arrested was Karen Moore age 36 of East Pittsburg Church Road, London charged with: Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Controlled Substance Endangerment To a Child 4th Degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, and Possession of Controlled Substance 1st degree,1st Offense(Methamphetamine)-she had a small baggie of suspected meth on her person. Her child was turned over to the Kentucky Department For Community Based Services. Also located in the living room area of the trailer was another female subject next to the child , and she is identified as: Shearl S. Hampton age 38 of Slate Lick Road, London arrested and charged with: Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Controlled Substance Endangerment To a Child 4th Degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. A male subject was also located in the trailer hiding in the hallway where the heating unit was located. Arrested was: Ricky R. Adams age 50 of East Pittsburg Church Road, London charged with: Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Controlled Substance Endangerment To a Child 4th Degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd, and Resisting Arrest. All three subjects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility. Laurel County Department For Public Safety(DPS) responded to the scene to neutralize the meth lab, and decontaminate the scene.
